The Graduate School of Social Work went through the process of reworking their mission, personality, voice, and tone and discovered that some visual updating was in need to fit their new desired image: being bold and courageous. I was tasked with creating a brand refresh that would emphasize this new image to be used across all touchpoints of their communication.
Designed under the creative direction of Matt Dunn at Betterweather.

The basis of the refresh involved introducing new typography and photography treatments that visualized a shift and commanded attention. We achieved this by breaking up 2-word phrases in a way that abstractly shows shouting, building, changing, and transformation.
We created a custom made glitch treatment for their photography in their 2 main Denver University school colors to further the shift concept and create an eye-catching and bold visual. Especially when combined with the typography.
Then, a color-block pattern was created to use for backgrounds and excerpts where a glitched image would not be appropriate.
For GSSW’s advancement section of their department we created all new fact sheets and brochures that describe who GSSW is and the many different institutes they support and manage in the name of social justice.
GSSW does so much when it comes to research and field work that every year they put together an Impact Report that documents the work their staff and Graduate Students have done, the impacts of that work, and new projects. This was a 36 page 8x10 booklet that was mailed out to other Social Work schools, students, donors, and more.
This new image has been used as headers on their Facebook page and school website to keep the vision consistent at every touch point.
This style has also been adapted to be used for some of their recurring event series that they hold on a yearly basis. Assets have been created for Facebook, Instagram, their website, and newsletters.
